Limousine Excursion from Naples to Pompei, Sorrento & Amalfi Coast

We will spend most of our full day 8-hour excursion visiting the ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii at the foot of the Mt. Vesuvius.

Pompei

The city's vibrant Roman life came to an abrupt halt in 79 AD when Vensuvius erupted, covering the city in several meters of volcanic ash for centuries to come. The first archeological explorations were conducted randomly around 1750. Yet only since 1860 were any such diggings carried out in a concrete and rational way. Still, today only three fifths of the entire city has been completely excavated. What modern archeologists have unearthed is the world's most precious concrete example of how Roman cities were constructed and how their citizens lead their daily lives.

Sorrento

Proceeding along the panoramic Amalfi Coast we will then stop at Sorrento, a celebrated resort town since Roman times.
For local Neapolitans Sorrento is still a favorite weekend getaway and is visited by tourists from all over the world who appreciate its mild climate, charming streets, beaches and excellent restaurants. As you tour Sorrento's historic city center you will discover how its inhabitants maintain local artistic traditions such as woodworking, ceramics, culinary dishes and liqueur making. We invite you to taste limoncello, a sweet liqueur made from lemon juice and rinds.

Capri

In the summer months you may choose to take a 30-minute ferry boat to the island of Capri from the port of Sorrento. The island is world-famous for its spectacular cliffs, turquoise waters, marine caves, incredible flora and panoramic views of the Mediterranean gulf across to Naples. The island was also home to the ancient Greeks in the 5th-6th Century BC and the Roman Emperor Tiberius as a retreat from the chaos of Rome. In the middle of the island you will find a charming medieval town center bustling with modern shops, cafes and restaurants. Time permitting, you have the chance to explore the island on foot and the ruins of Tiberius' Villa Jovis while admiring the many modern villas owned by the Italian elite.
