Vicenza, Verona & Fortified Veneto Cities
Our full day 9-hour excursion will take you to Vicenza, one of the most important cities of art in the Veneto region. Vicenza is considered a crossroads of civilizations and where the Romans left their permanent mark on the city's urban planning.
Palladio Paradise: Vincenza is also the birthplace to one of Italy's greatest architects -Andrea Di Pietro Palladio. We will take you to many of Andrea Di Pietro Palladio's great constructions, as seen in Vicenza's elegant monuments, including the Duomo, the Loggia del Capitanio, Palazzo Barbaran da Porto and the city's civic museum, Palazzo Chiericati. We will also take you to Palladio's architectural masterpiece is city's wood-built Teatro Olimpico.
From Vicenza we will take a short drive to Verona, Veneto's supreme city of art after Venice itself. Verona, like Vincenza, enjoys a long and varied history from Etruscan, Roman, Medieval to Renaissance times.
Verona and Surrounding Towns: Verona set the stage for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliette. and was an important capital in the Middle Ages and during the late Renaissance. What is most impressive about Verona is its abundance of art and culture, reflective of its continued wealth and prominence in Northern Italy.
Among Verona's most impressive sites are its Roman amphitheater and bridges, river walks and island main park and square. Also must-sees are the Arch of Gavi as well as the Corsari and Leoni city gates.
