Chianti Castles Wine Route
 The Via Chiantiggiana is the most famous road along the Tuscan Chianti wine region.
This road, from the south, begins along the River Arno and heads toward Siena -snaking through bucolic hilly landscape, medieval castles and country villages.
Because of the numerous medieval fortresses and residences in this valley, this route is aptly named "Chianti Castles". The route is formed by 6 separate minor roads making their way through rolling hills, woods -not to mention noble vineyards producing world famous Chianti wine, such as the "Chianti Gallo Nero" vintage.
Some of the medieval borgos worth visiting are Radda, Gaiole, Greve and Castellina, where you may also join in on wine tasting sessions and enjoy the local hearty cuisine, in addition to fresh cheeses and produce at nearby farms.
