 Maremma Hills Wine Route: The Maremma hills, once part of ancient Etruria, is a natural park extending south into Lazio along the Central Tuscan coastline. This are is said by many to be Italy's new frontier of eco-tourism.
This region's climate is mythical and its landscape wild and natural, just as it was thousands of years ago.
The only interruption, so to speak, are the precious vines producing creeping along wooden stakes at Italy's most innovative vineyards to produce leading vintages like the Morellino di Scansano, Pitigliano, Ansonica, Costa dell'Argentario, Parrina , Sovana and Caparbio.
Of particular interest along this route is the small town of Pitigliano, This characteristic town is called the "little Jerusalem" of Italy, for its established Jewish culture and recent rebirth here along after its synagogue was restructured.
Well worth visiting is the town's the Jewish cemetery and ghetto.
