Cantico Wine Route
This wine route pays testimony to thousands of yeas of culture, ancient settlements, cities, churches, monasteries and abbeys -a trip back in time for experiencing Umbria's great customs, traditions and intense love affair with life and art.
The wines and varied culinary traditions found along this route reflect such passion and creativity found in both rural and city communities.
The Cantico Wine Route makes its way through some of the most popular Umbrian small towns, such as Todi, Marsciano, Perugia, Torgiano, Bettona, Cannara, Spello and Assisi, where recipes for producing the region's best food and wine are jealously guarded.
Early autumn, when the grape harvest occurs, is the best period to visit this area, when it is scented by freshly picked and crushed grapes. This season is the time taste the year's first released "novello" wines next to fireside at a country inn or trattoria serving hearty roast vegetables and grilled meats. In the spring and summer months the landscape is teeming with verdant hills and renewed crops of sweet scented grapes, fruit, and local wild flora.
