Etruscan-Roman Wine Route
 This wine route offers its visitors some of Italy's most prestigious wines and highest quality olive oils, truffles and mineral waters while cutting through ancient Etruscan and Roman settlements in the Upper Tiber River valley.
Famous Roman soldiers, like Germanicus, once thrived here.
And testimony to a great Etruscan past is seen in the frescos in the ancient Gollini tomb.
In addition to having a long, rich history and outstanding wine production this region also boasts an infinite variety of food products, especially the curing of pork meat in to various cured meats and cold-cuts, as in the Umbrian town of Norcia.
Some of these cured meals are famous worldwide, like prosciutto.
Yet we encourage you to taste some of the lesser know varieties like those made from wild boar.
Our route will lead you to the spectacular town of Orvieto and its grand palaces and Romanic churches containing frescos by Signorelli.
We will then lead you through Tiber River valley before arriving at Amelia, a fortified walled city whose polygonal walls were built by Cyclops according to ancient legend.
Here you admire the city's cathedral, its dreamy spires and visit the local civic museum where the wonderful statue of Germanicus is housed.
Our tour will end with trip to the Nera River valley, today a natural park containing Europe's highest waterfall, the famous "Cascata delle Marmore", before reaching the city of Terni, home to St. Valentine.
This city is also proud of its excellent pasta recipes made with truffles as well as its cured meats, crawfish, wild fruit and olive groves producing rich-flavored oils.
